The Solar Demonstration Center, Inc. "SDC" is in the business of identifying sites that are feasible for the installation of large scale solar electric power plants, developing and installing plants, providing on-going operations and maintenance services, and operating a web based remote energy management system.
SDC specializes in locating sites on airports, as they provide the unobstructed land and security needed for solar power plants. SDC has established alliances with experienced manufacturers and suppliers of high quality products and services. SDC projects are designed and constructed using its proprietary mounting and support structure. This reduces project cost, time and equipment requirements. All of which, increase the value of the capital invested and assures the projects ability to generate higher revenues. Invested capital is used to acquire and install new equipment, and the interconnection with the utility grid network. All of the electricity produced is sold to a single customer at a fixed price under a long-term (10-20) year contract. The price is per kilowatt hour of electricity produced and at the same or lower rate than what the customer would otherwise pay to the utility company. This gives the customer the assurance of knowing what their energy expense will be for the next 10-20 years and that it will also remain fixed for the duration. Solar electric or photovoltaic plants have no moving parts and carry 25 year warranties. This means the annual operating expenses are negligible. Resulting in higher revenues, which are distributed quarterly to the investors. The return on investment is projected to be 16% resulting in a 6-8 year pay-back based on today’s cost of electricity. The rate of return increases substantially as energy prices rise. Investors are also eligible to claim a 30% tax credit and accelerated depreciation of five years. SDC is currently seeking private investors, to fund the Mojave I project, which is a 1 megawatt (1,000,000 watt) power plant at a total cost of $8,000,000. This project has been approved by the owner/operator of the Mojave Spaceport, CA the East Kern Airport District and is projected to generate 18,000,000 kilowatt hours a year. That is the equivalent of powering 750 homes. In addition, the project will provide substantial environmental benefits, and reduce consumption of fossil fuels. Tradable Renewable Energy Credits (REC) will also be produced. |
